Day 40

2/3/2006

It's their nature. Tractor pulling races shift the pulled weight as you move, increasing the resistance and the energy to keep pulling. A clever new idea comes to you -- it becomes successful and then others copy you, diluting your rewards. You purchase property and, by luck or foresight, it increases in value manyfold. Then the taxman cometh and demands more, and yet more taxes, to the point that it becomes too dear for you to keep. Your dreams may be glorious in their conception, but Society's blade whittles them down to pith in your dreams' execution. Totus lacuna es temero.
